CASE STUDY – Ford Ridings – Middlesbrough

Location: Middlesbrough

Scope of Work:

B R Asbestos was contracted to remove and safely dispose of asbestos roof sheets from a building in MIDDLESBROUGH. The work was carried out under semi-controlled conditions to ensure maximum safety and compliance with health regulations.

Methodology:

The removal process involved working from a SCISSOR LIFT on the exterior of the building. A safety net was installed beneath the working area, along with debris netting to catch any insulation that might dislodge during the removal process. The asbestos sheets were thoroughly wetted to minimise the release of asbestos fibres. Bolts and nails securing the sheets were cut using bolt croppers. Subsequently, they were wrapped in 1000-gauge polythene and securely sealed for safe disposal.

Safety Measures:

Daily safety checks were conducted on all machinery and equipment prior to use, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and respiratory protective equipment (RPE). These checks ensured that all safety protocols were adhered to throughout the project.

Post-Removal Procedures:

Once all asbestos sheeting was removed, the area was meticulously cleaned using H-type vacuum cleaners. Reassurance air monitoring was performed by an analyst team to confirm the absence of asbestos fibres, ensuring the site was safe for subsequent use.

Outcome:

The project was completed successfully, with all asbestos materials safely removed and disposed of according to regulatory standards. The site was left clean and safe, with comprehensive monitoring verifying the efficacy of the removal process.

Conclusion:

This case study highlights B R Asbestos’s dedication to safety, precision, and regulatory compliance in the removal of hazardous materials. Our systematic approach and rigorous safety protocols ensured the successful and safe completion of the project at the Middlesbrough site.
